Doris A. Burchard

Doris Ann Burchard, 95, of Sparta, formerly Black River Falls, passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2024 at Morrow Memorial Home, Sparta, surrounded by her family. She was born March 11, 1929 to Jessie and Mabel (Murphy) Johnson, in Black River Falls. In 1947, she married Victor Burchard.

Doris worked as a waitress at the Black River Café for 10 years, and Dadco (pizza plant) for 29 years. She retired at the age of 70.

Doris loved to fish, cook, and bake. She also loved to camp and travel. She made many afghans for her family. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Conrad and Dennis Johnson; and sisters, Margaret Ewert and Norma Huber.

Doris is survived by her children, Joan (Gary) Lakowske of Sparta, and Thomas Burchard of Black River Falls; grandchildren, Scott (Kelly) Lakowske of Sparta, Melissa (Jeff) Roningen of Sparta, TJ Lakowske of Sparta, Andrea (Rick) Motte of St. Cloud, MN, and Jessica (Brad) Lapic of La Crosse; great-grandchildren, Mitch (Chelsea) Lakowske of Holmen, Chase (Erica) Lakowske of Stoddard, Taylor (AJ) Roningen of Sparta, Garett Roningen of Sparta, Aiden Motte of St. Cloud, MN, Dylan Lapic, and Dawson Lapic of La Crosse; great-great granddaughter, CeCe Lakowske of Holmen; sisters, Verna Rugg of Cataract, and Mary Beaver of Cataract; sister-in-law, Norma Johnson of MN; and many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to express a heartfelt thankyou to the Morrow Home, St. Croix Hospice, and Sparta Mayo Hospital for Doris’ wonderful care; as well as Lanham-Schanhofer for their assistance.

A Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 16, 2024 at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home and Cremation, Sparta, with Reverend David Huber officiating. Burial will be in Shamrock Union Cemetery, Shamrock, after a luncheon at the funeral home.

A visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 15, 2024 at the funeral home, and 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Friday, at the funeral home. Online condolences may be offered at www.schanhoferfh.com
