Doris Wall Obituary

Doris J. Wall, 91, of Sparta, died Friday, April 10, 2020 at Rolling Hills Rehabilitation Ceneter, Sparta. She was born on January 1, 1929 to Forrest and Ella (Wetzel) Richards. She grew up in Cataract and graduated from Sparta High School in 1946.

Doris married John R. Wall on September 1, 1952 at the United Methodist Church in Cataract. She worked in the office of a lumberyard in Kansas City, Wisconsin Child Center, and Wenzel Jewelers in Sparta.

Doris was active in her church, Congregational United Church of Christ. She enjoyed baking (made the best apple pies around!), gardening, antiquing, babysitting her “grand dogs”, and spending time with her family and friends.

Doris is survived by her children, Karl (Pat) Wall of Sparta, Ron (Karen) Wall of Sparta, Kathryn Baird of Sparta, and Mark (Connie) Wall of La Crosse; grandchildren, Sara (Brian) Maliszewski, great grandchild, Bennett Maliszewski; Shelley Wall, Kristine Wall, Elizabeth (Christopher) Cavadini, Katherine Wall, Bob (Nicole) DeNoyer, great grandchildren, Mark and Jess DeNoyer; Brian (Tara) DeNoyer, great grandchildren, Riley, Stella, Gabriella, and John DeNoyer; Zachary Dahman, Isaiah Dahman, and Elijah Dahman; sister-in-law, Jan Wall of Cashton; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John; grandson, Mark Wall; son-in-law, Ron Baird; brother, David Richards, and sisters, Ellen McKitrick and Mary Hanson.

The family would like to thank the caring staff of Rolling Hills Rehabilitation Center for the wonderful care given to Doris. All who cared for her commented on how much they enjoyed her “grit and grace”.

A memorial service will be held at a later time due to the COVID-19 restrictions. Memorials may be directed to the Sparta Congregational United Church of Christ, Sparta Area Cancer Support (SACS), Deke Slayton Museum, and Sparta Park and Rec Swim Scholarship.

The Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home, Sparta, is assisting the family with arrangements.
