Dorothy M. Eddy

Dorothy M. Eddy, 90, of Sparta, died peacefully at Morrow Memorial Home surrounded by her family on Thursday, August 21, 2025. She was born on July 11, 1935 in Cataract, WI to Daniel and Hazel (Heineck) O’Neill. Dorothy grew up in Cataract, WI on the family farm.

Dorothy married the love of her life Roger Eddy on November 20, 1953 in Black River Falls, WI., living in Cataract where the family would begin. Dorothy was a stay-at-home mom until owning Eddy’s Bar in Cataract, and later she was a foreman at Spartek, worked at KFC and Jake’s Northwoods in Sparta. Family times were spent camping and going fishing. She loved her flowers and was an avid Brewers fan and experienced a few games. She loved baking and was known as the “cookie grandma”.  She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother.

Her warm and loving spirit will be greatly missed by her loving family, Denise (Ron) Storandt of Cataract, Cindy Eddy of Sparta, Randy (Shelly) Eddy of Sparta, Mary Jo Eddy of Black River Falls, Linda (Steve) Boris of Sparta, and Tom (Tracey) Eddy of Sparta; 21 grandchildren;  37 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great child.; her brothers, Lawrence (Darlene) O’Neil of Babcock and John O’Neil of Sparta; and brother in-law, Richard Eddy of Sparta.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Eddy; parents, Daniel and Hazel O’Neill; brothers, Elmer (Betty) O’Neil, Bernard (Ramona/Jeanetta) O’Neil, and Eugene (Marlene) O’Neil; sisters, Deloris (Mike) Tracy and Virgina (Jim) Murray, in-laws, Harold and Grace Hammon; and step father in-law, Clyde Hammon; sisters in-law, Margaret Eddy and Norma (Buck) Konze; and grandson, Danny Konze.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, August 29 at 11:30 A.M. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Sparta, with Father Eric Berns officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery in Sparta.

Family and friends are invited to call at St. Patrick’s Church in Sparta, on the day of the service from 9:30 A.M. until time of service. Memorials may be given to the Sparta Area Cancer Society (SACS) or St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Online condolences may be offered at www.schanhoferfh.com
