Gary Allen Obituary

Gary T. Allen, 80, of Sparta, passed away on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at his home; with his sweetie, Barb, by his side. He was born August 15, 1945 to John and Lilah (Arttus) Allen, in Sparta. He grew up there, and graduated from Sparta High School.

After high school, Gary worked at Kearney & Trekker Machine, in Milwaukee, for several years; before moving back to Sparta to care for his parents. He was employed by the City of Sparta for many years, until his retirement.

Gary was an avid motorcycle enthusiast. His garage was his second home, where he spent many hours tinkering. He enjoyed snowmobiling, ATV rides, and making memories with friends. He and Barb enjoyed many rides out in Amish Country. Not only could Gary fix anything, he also knew everything; and handed out excellent advice. He could be found sitting in his swing, chatting with friends, and feeding peanuts to the bluebirds and squirrels.

He had a great sense of humor, and compassion for animals. He was especially close to his cat, Melinda; who was by his side throughout his illness. He touched everyone he met, and will be missed greatly. Especially by the love of his life, Barb Weibel; and many relatives and friends.

Gary is survived by his life partner, Barb Weibel; step-children, Dana (Eric) Larsgaard and Matthew Weibel; grandson, Kaiden Larsgaard; several nieces and nephews; and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lilah Allen; siblings, LaRene Hammer, Robert Duane Allen, Arliss Allen, Norma Lyden, and an infant sister; and nieces and nephews.

Per Gary’s wishes, no services will be held.

Memorials in Gary’s Honor may be offered at ASAP Cat Shelter in Sparta, Monroe County Animal Shelter, or Sparta Trailblazers Snow Mobile Club. Online condolences may be offered at www.schanhoferfh.com.
