George "PawPaw" S Hart Sr.

George “PawPaw” Sherman Hart was a caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He passed away suddenly of a heart attack on August 29, 2023 at age 70.

He was born June 14, 1953 in Chicago, IL, the son of the late Richard Hart and Sherma Mitchell. He married Peggy Louise Hagen on February 28, 1987.

George retired from the maintenance team for Sparta Schools in 2008 and then continued working at Fort McCoy Army Installation before retiring again earlier this year. During his life with Peggy, they enjoyed fishing, singing and playing music together, playing games together, cooking, and enjoying time with their family.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy (Potts) Hagen-Hart of Sparta; children, George (Jennifer) Hart Jr. of Holmen, WI, Christopher (Melanie) Hart of Aurora, CO, Shane (Heidi) Hart of La Crosse, WI, Kathy (Nick) Pharr of Statesville, NC, Steven Hagen of Sparta, WI, Deidra Hart of Sparta, WI, Amy (Noah) Hart of Tomah, WI; 27 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; two brothers; and three sisters.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home and Cremation, Sparta. Online condolences may be offered at www.schanhoferfh.com
