Gerald DeWitt Jr, 64, died peacefully on November 6, 2021 surrounded by family.
Gary was born in Sparta on March 3, 1957 to Gerald DeWitt Sr. and Madonna Wookey. A lifelong resident of Sparta, WI, he worked and retired as an IT Specialist Supervisor at Fort McCoy, WI. Gary was a diehard Packer fan, and the only thing he loved more than a Packer win and a good bloody mary was his family.
Gary enjoyed so much in life, sharing his time and smiles with his friends and family. From camping trips to golf outings, visits to Door County or area festivals, he could be found, eyes twinkling with a big smile, leading the fun. He loved his many trips out to Laughlin, NV, to breathe in the casino air and watch the hillside change color throughout the day. The annual camping trip with family and friends at Fort McCoy was one of his favorite events and places and looked forward to each year.
Gary was an incredibly hard worker with a strong work ethic and always enjoyed taking on those difficult home projects himself. He would often mix himself a cocktail and walk through the yard enjoying his talks with the neighbors stopping by. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and everyone that knew him.
Gary is survived by his father, Gerald Dewitt, Sr; his significant other and love, Dawn Alger; his children, Christina Lene, Mandy Rolstad and Gerald DeWitt III; along with many beautiful grandchildren. Gary was preceded in death by his mother, Madonna Wookey.
A Celebration of Life for Gerald Jr. and Gerald Sr. will be held from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at Pineview Campground in Fort McCoy.
