Gerald “Jerry” Plagge, 70, of Cataract, WI, formerly of New Albin, IA, passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2020, at his home.
He was born September 10, 1949, in La Crosse, WI, to Norbert and Evelyn (Krueger) Plagge. Jerry grew up in New Albin and was a 1967 graduate of Kee High School in Lansing, IA. He enlisted in the United States Army and served for three years as an infantryman in Vietnam. Jerry enjoyed tinkering, rummage sales, auctions, and socializing. As a proud veteran, he was grateful to have traveled on the 2019 Freedom Honor Flight to D.C.
Survivors include his son, BJ (Becky) Plagge; two grandsons, Seth and Alex Plagge; sister, Renie Plagge; significant other, Nancy Whitaker; all of Nancy’s loving family.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; son, Joe Plagge; sister, Jean Wurm; niece, Jodie Eckert.
Jerry will be very missed by all, especially those who called him Grandpa. He loved being that very unique and special Grandpa to so many grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 12 noon, Saturday, July 18, 2020, at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home, Sparta. Pastor Robbie Nowicki will officiate. A visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m., until the time of service, Saturday, at the funeral home.
A celebration of life will be held from 10:00 a.m., until 12:30 p.m., Sunday, July 26th, 2020 at the Community Center in New Albin, IA. Burial with military honors will follow at the City Cemetery.
