Hilda M. Skilbred

Hilda M. Skilbred, 87, of Sparta, died on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at Morrow Memorial Home in Sparta. She was born on July 7, 1934 in Dorchester, WI to Lars and Edith (Stockwell) Skilbred.

Hilda grew up in Dorchester, WI. Her family moved to Camp Douglas, WI when she was a teenager. When Hilda left home she moved to Evanston, IL where she and her sisters ran a boarding house.

In 1974 Hilda and her two sisters Grace and Eleanor moved to Sparta, WI. Where she enjoyed farming and working at her brother-in-law Harold Blazek's sawmill.  Hilda loved children, and later did foster care for many years.

Hilda is survived by her many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents and 11 siblings.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 22, 2021 at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home and Cremation, Sparta. Ministers Jason Stein and Linda Woolum to officiate. A funeral visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment Glenwood Cemetery in Dallas, WI.
