Irvin H Olson

Irvin H. Olson, 94, of Sparta, passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2025 at his home. He was born on April 20,1931 to Albert and Cora (Hagen) Olson in Cashton, WI where he was raised.

Irvin married the love of his life, Jeanette Anderson, on May 7, 1954. Irvin moved his family to California in 1957 and raised six children where he retired in 1996. He and Jeanette moved back to Wisconsin. They brought their granddaughter, Krista (Alex) Spiegel back with them and raised her until her graduation from Sparta High School in 2001.

Irvin enjoyed target shooting, fishing and drives through the country with his nephew, Bill Pieper. Irvin loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.  He was especially close to his sister, Lana (Larry) Zweifel. He loved the fish she would fry up for him. He also looked forward to his Sunday evening phone call from his brother, Robert D. Olson of Washington.

Irvin was a Korean War Veteran, serving in the army in the Signal Corp. He was also a lifetime member of the VFW.

He is survived by his children; Sherry (Louis) Getpradit of Downey, Ca, Mark Olson of Springfield, MO, Sandra Olson of Sparta, WI, David Olson of Sparta, WI, and Lisa Lopez of Sparta, WI, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings; Donna (Don) Larson of Sparta, WI, Robert (Carolyn) Olson of Tenino, WA, and Lana (Larry) Zweifel of Leon.

Irvin was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jeanette; son, Richard Olson; siblings, Delaine Ebert, Walter Olson, Charles Olson, Joan Schumacher, and John Olson.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 26, 2025 at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home and Cremation, Sparta, with Chaplain Priscilla Hemmersbach officiating. Burial will be in Leon Cemetery, with military honors provided by Sparta VFW Post 2112 and Sparta American Legion Post 100.  There will be a luncheon following the burial, at the funeral home.
