James “Jim” A. Ball, 83, of Sparta, died Saturday, June 3, 2023 at his home. He was born on April 5, 1940 in Shamrock, WI to Henry and Marjorie (Lanham) Ball. He grew up in Eagle, WI and graduated from Mukwonago High School. He then served in the Air National guard.
Jim married Arlene Lutz. She passed away. He later spent 15 years with Vivian “Ginger” Hoard who died in 2008.
Jim worked for GE in Fort Atkinson, WI as a supply manager until he retired. He moved to Cataract and then to Sparta. He enjoyed woodworking, yardwork, hunting, and had meticulous organization skills.
Jim is survived by his sister, Audrey Hoekstra of Abbotsford, WI; nieces, Tayo Greene of Fort Atkinson, Debbie Bartz of Merrill, Sherry Chatfield of Watertown, Melody Buetow of Waukesha, and Holly Holick of Hancock; special friend, Kate Nevin of La Crosse; special cousins, Steve (Linda) Boris of Sparta; Greg (Ellen) Ball of Cassville, and Buzz (Marilyn) Hemstock of Sparta; great nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Arlene; partner, Ginger; sister, Iris Chatfield; nephews, Mike Bartz and Ted Bartz; and niece, Marge Dudzek.
A memorial service will be held at 12 noon on Friday, June 9, 2023 at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home and Cremation, Sparta. Burial will be in Cataract Cemetery, Cataract.
Family and friends are invited for visitation from 11 a.m. until 12 noon on Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the charity of your choice. Online condolences may be offered at www.schanhoferfh.com
