James (Jim) T Hendricks, 90, of Niagara, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully Monday, December 12, 2022 at his son John’s home in Sparta, Wisconsin, surrounded by family.
He was born August 12, 1932 in Niagara, Wisconsin, son of the late J. Henry Hendricks and Iva (Thomas) Hendricks. He shared his time between Niagara, Spread Eagle, Wisconsin and Mexico Beach, Florida. He was a graduate of Niagara High School Class of 1950. Following graduation, he married his high school sweetheart Nyna Anderson before beginning his service in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
James returned to work at the paper mill in Niagara where he was employed for 43 years. He and Nyna retired on the same day in 1992. Jim was skilled in many ways and was proud to have built their home in Niagara. Following retirement Jim and Nyna enjoyed many summers at their lake home in Spread Eagle and winters with friends in Mexico Beach. In March, 2022 they relocated to Sparta, Wisconsin and resided at the Morrow Memorial Home.
Survivors include his loving wife of 69 years, Nyna Hendricks: daughter Patricia (Tim) Hammill of Norway, Michigan; son Michael (Laurie) Hendricks of Pasadena, California; daughter Debra Richtig of Green Bay, Wisconsin; son John (Gulnara Dreier) Hendricks of Sparta; daughter Sandra Carey of Iron Mountain, Michigan; 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Jim also enjoyed the company of his cat, Katie. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his eight siblings, sons-in-law Paul Richtig and David Carey, and daughters-in-law Beth Ann and Peggy Hendricks.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. The family requests that memorials be directed to Almost Home Animal Shelter, 5060 Lincoln Street, Quinnesec, Michigan, 49876. The family would like to acknowledge the excellent care of the VA Hospitals in Iron Mountain, Michigan, and Tomah, Wisconsin; the staff at the Morrow Memorial Home; and Moments Hospice Care.
