James Lefevre Obituary

James Francis Lefevre, 64, of Sparta, passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2020, at Mayo Clinic Health System, La Crosse. He was born on February 22, 1956, to Francis and Grace (Coonen) Lefevre in Detroit, MI.

James grew up in Detroit, MI, where he eventually joined the US Army and was stationed in Germany and Alaska. He served for 25 years, through Vietnam, Desert Storm, and Iraqi Freedom. He retired from the US Army in 2000. He married Roxanne (Richards) Lefevre in Hazel Park, MI on July 25, 1981.

They eventually moved to Sparta where he worked at Century Foods. He was a member of the Sparta American Legion Post 100. James opened his home up to everyone, always taking in strays, had a very generous heart, and would literally give the shirt of his back to anyone. He also loved to go on the bike trails, kayaking, and bowling.

James was survived by his wife, Roxanne; daughter, Elizabeth (Alex Sallander) Lefevre; goddaughter, Jenna Laxton; 4 sisters, Mary Lefevre, Linda (Dave) Schmitz, Lois (Terry) Proudfoot, Judy Zielke; brother, John Lefevre; and many nieces and nephews, friends, and adopted family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Grace (Coonen) Lefevre; his infant son, Christopher.

A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Staturday, May 15 at Evans-Bosshard Park, Sparta. Military honors, provided by VFW Post 2112, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday to start the celebration of life.
