Janell C. Hendersin

Janell Charlene Hendersin, 97, passed away on June 9, 2025 at Marycrest Assisted Living Home in Sparta, WI. Janell was born September 23, 1927 in Sparta, WI to Charles and Eunice (Warner) Batteen. She grew up on a farm in Angelo and attended high school in Sparta along with her younger sister, June.

She met and later married Boyd Hendersin on October 8, 1948. Boyd’s job took them to Madison, WI where daughters Vivian and Denise were born. They later moved to Brodhead, WI and finally retired to the Sparta area, settling in their home in Cataract. Following Boyd’s death, she moved into Sparta and was a resident at Parkview Apartments and Marycrest Assisted Living Home.

Janell was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd; and her parents, Charles and Eunice.

She is survived by her sister, June Clark; her daughters, Vivian Vander Veen (Scott) and Denise Pesti (Gene); grandchildren, Sean Vander Veen, Sandy Harshaw, Erin Pesti, and Alan Pesti; as well as great-grandchildren, Troy Vander Veen and Liam Harshaw; and many nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 30, 2025 in Big Creek Union Cemetery, rural Sparta.
