Janice Y. Timmons

Janice Y. Timmons, 87, of Viroqua, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2026, at Vernon Manor Nursing Home in Viroqua, WI, where she had resided for the past ten years.

Janice was born on March 17, 1938, to Richard and Freda (Hoffland) Gorman. She grew up in the Viroqua area and graduated from Viroqua High School. Following high school, she attended the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse for two years, earning her teaching degree.

In 1957, Janice married Bruce Moore. Together they had two sons. Although the marriage later ended in divorce, Janice remained a devoted mother throughout her life. She later married Bill Timmons, with whom she shared over 20 years of marriage until his passing. Janice and Bill lived in LaSalle, WI for many years. She also lived in the Tomah/Sparta area.

Janice dedicated much of her life to caring for and supporting others. She began her career as a teacher, later working at a daycare center and serving as the Director of the Head Start Program in Viroqua. After moving to LaFarge, she worked as a bookkeeper, continuing similar work when she later moved to Hillsboro. In Hillsboro, she also provided nursing home care, reflecting her lifelong compassion for others.

Following Bill’s passing and her own health challenges, Janice moved to a nursing home in Tomah before eventually returning to Viroqua to be closer to family.

Janice had a deep appreciation for poetry and enjoyed expressing herself through the written word. She valued family, education, and service, and her quiet strength and dedication will be remembered by all who knew her.

She is survived by her son, Robert (Julie) Moore; her grandchildren, Ryan Moore and Bryan Moore; her sister, Kay (Roger) Zogg; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Freda Gorman; her husband, Bill Timmons; and her son, Randy Moore.

Janice’s family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Vernon Manor for their care and compassion during her years of residence.
