Jay C. Jensen, 63 of Sparta, died Wednesday, November 18, 2020, at Gundersen Health System, La Crosse. He was born November 8, 1957, to Gordon and Shirlee (Braem) Jensen in Marshfield, WI.
Jay grew up in Sparta and graduated from Sparta High School in 1975. Following high school, Jay attended UW Eau Claire and graduated in 1979, majoring in accounting and computer programming. He married Kimberly J. Erickson on April 26, 1980; they resided in Eau Claire. To this union, there were three daughters born: Morgan, Tara and Kellie. They later divorced.
After moving back to the Sparta area, Jay worked in IT for Ingersoll & Rand, developing the Citrix program. He was a sports fanatic and enjoyed supporting his favorite teams. In his free time, he enjoyed playing softball, basketball, throwing darts and golfing. He met Angela H. Arnold in 2006, and they married in 2014. Jay was most proud of all of his children and grandchildren, and he loved spending his time with them. His sense of humor was one of a kind and he could always make you laugh. Jay was a loving son, father, husband, and “Papa”. He will be greatly missed by so many.
He is survived by his wife, Angie Jensen; three daughters, Morgan (Justin) Gausmann, and their son, Wesley; Tara (Chris) Lemke, and their son Leo; Kellie Zahrte and her sons, Adrian Williams and Liam Zahrte; his gained children, Christina Dunn and her sons Anthony and Isaac; David (Dessa) Dunn, and their children, Dennis, Derek and Danielle; Ashlee Dunn and her children, Charlee, Grace and Aubree. He is further survived by his brothers, Thomas (Beth) Jensen and David (Debbie) Jensen; step-brother, John (Bev) Easley; step-sister, Gail (Bill) Kroeger; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Shirlee; step-dad, Raymond Easley; and a son-in-law, Shane Zahrte.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, November 24, at the Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home, Sparta, with Father Eric Berns officiating. Facial coverings are required and social distancing will be observed.
