Jimmy Cox Obituary

Jimmy (Jim) O Cox, 82, died with his family by his side December 25, 2023, at the family farm north of Angelo. He was born March 14, 1941, in Wilton, WI, the son of Harold and Gladys (Wallace) Cox. He was the 4th of 10 children.

After graduating from Wilton High School, he sought work in farming which brought him to the Sparta area. He accepted a job as hired man for Paul and Mabel Affeldt to run their dairy farm. There he met his partner in life, the love of his life, Patricia (Affeldt) Cox. They celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary in June. Being a farmer is what Jim knew and loved, devoting his life to caring for the land, animals and all those in need of a helping hand. He offered many opportunities to young men to work and to learn by example.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his eldest brother, Harold Cox, Jr and wife, Edith, loving sister, Joanne Meyer, sister-in-law, Nadine Cox; niece, Sheila Cox and niece, Lynette Shisler.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Pat (Affeldt) Cox, are son, Jay Cox and wife, Jean of Sparta; daughter, Jodi Waltenberg and husband, Paul of Wisconsin Rapids; chosen son, Jeffery Harr and wife, Susan of Sparta; chosen son, Ryan Burkhalter of Sparta; semi favorite daughter, Sarah Spry; grandchildren, AJ Cox, Cortney Cox (Travis Gillmeister); Kayley Schoonover (Cody Schoonover); Felicia Younger-Waltenberg; great grandson, Cruise Schoonover; sister, Alice Leis-Murray; brother in law, Harry Meyer;  brother, Robert Cox and wife, Marlene;  sister, Linda Shisler and husband, Ronnie; brother, Gary Cox; brother, Wade Cox and wife, Connie; brother, Royce Cox and wife, Kathy; brother, John Cox; and numerous nieces and nephews.
