Joan F Graber

Joan F. Graber, 80, of Sparta, died Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at her home. She was born on December 30, 1941 to Anton and Geneva Knuppel in Appleton, WI. She grew up in Appleton and graduated from Appleton West High School in 1960. She then attended Madison Edgewood for her Bachelor’s in Nursing and later received her Master’s degree from UW-Milwaukee.

Joan worked for Milwaukee County and later in Weyauwega, WI. She married John Brown on February 14, 1983, who passed away November 7, 2008.

Joan moved to Sparta in 2012. She married Mike Graber, on April 21, 2012 at St Mary Magdalene Church in Waupaca.

She loved reading and golfing.

She is survived by her husband, Mike; sisters, Jean (Dave) Wickeham, Joyce (Emil Zurcher) Barrett, Elizabeth Gauslin, Katherine (Mark) Saunders, Karen De Noble; brothers, Anthony (Cheryl) Knuppel and Herman Knuppel;  sister-in-law, Ann Knuppel; brother-in-law, Howard Moe; step-children, Andy (Darcy) Graber, Catherine (Troy) Tinkham, Christi (John) Gronemus, Jonpaul (Ann) Graber, Julee (Ryan) Katona, Patrick (Jaime) Graber, Peter Brown, John Brown Jr., Nikki Brown, and Tracy (Dave) Paul; and many numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, John Brown; brother, Charles Knuppel; sister, Carol Moe; step-son, Mark: step-daughter Jill; brother-in-laws, John Gauslin and Charles Barrett; and sister-in-laws, Doris Knuppel and Margaret Knuppel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Sparta, with Father Eric Berns officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Appleton at a later date.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home and Cremation. There will be a Rosary at 7:45 p.m. Visitation will continue from 11 a.m. until 12 noon on Wednesday at the church.
