John Corems

John Corems, 76, of Sparta, died Monday, March 14, 2022, at his Heritage Haven apartment. He was born on December 10, 1945 in Maribor, Slovenia to Franc and Josephine Njivar.

He immigrated to the United States at the age of 22. John is best known by his friends, who felt more like family, from Jellystone Park in Warrens, Wisconsin and Rotary Lights Club in La Crosse, Wisconsin. He worked to serve others in every way he could.  John poured his heart into creating Christmas villages and train models for families to enjoy. He also drove seniors to medical appointments.  In his words, work was what he did for “fun”.  John has left his mark on all of those he leaves behind.

He is survived by his daughter, Tina (Zechariah) Putney; and grandsons Nathan and Joshua of Chippewa Falls, WI.

A graveside service will be held at 11:15 a.m. on Monday, March 21, at Mount Hope Cemetery in Sparta.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home and Cremation, Sparta.
