Joseph W. Preston, 31, of Sparta, died suddenly, Thursday, August 7, 2025 at his home. He was born in Freeport IL to Peggy Huenefeld and David Preston Jr.

Joseph worked construction most of his adult life.

Joseph is survived by mother, Peggy Huenefeld; father, David Preston; fiance, Kaitlyn Hendrickson; son, Asher Preston; sisters, Jinessa Huenefeld, Jessica (Kris) Schmidt; sister, Frank Preston; brothers,  Jordan Parks, and Richard Preston; aunts, Jody Huenefeld, Nikki Preston; uncle, Ted (Monica) Huenefeld; maternal grandmother, Tina Huenefeld; mother-in-law, Stacy Hendrickson; brother-in-law, Brandon Hendrickson; and numerous great aunts, great uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Everett “Ted” Huenefeld, David Preston Sr.; and maternal grandmother; Jackie Stauffacher.
