Joyce A. Heineck, 81, of Sparta, died Monday, March 29, 2021 at the Morrow Memorial Home, Sparta. She was born on May 1, 1939, to Wilford and Helen (Swenson) Mikkelson in Galesville, WI.
Joyce graduated from Melrose-Mindoro High School in 1957. She married the love of her life Roger Heineck in 1958 at the Mindoro Lutheran Church. She attended WWTC for her office clerical degree and worked at McClones and Fort McCoy retiring in March of 2000. God, Faith, family and friends were her most precious treasures. Joyce loved God, her family and friends deeply and was kind beyond words, always putting others first. She loved family get togethers, family reunions, and lunches with her coworkers and classmates. For many years she enjoyed traveling to northern Wisconsin with family during the summer, fishing, and going to garage sales where she found and shared many treasures. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles.
She is survived by her husband, Roger Heineck of Sparta; children, Ronald Heineck of Sparta and Sue (Michael) Bjorkman of Bangor; grandchildren, Roy (Brooks) and Ryan (Ann) Heineck, Tasha (Steve) Lund, and Melissa (Bryant) LeJeune; great grandchildren, Keerstin, Chloe Cheyenne, Boden, Colton, Brielle, Amelia, Evelynn, and Celia Joyce; daughter in law, Randina Clements of Mindoro, and her children, William, Ronnie, and Fredrick; sisters in law, Diana Mikkelson of Onalaska and Sharon Mikkelson of Melrose; nieces Kari Jandt and Amy Matson and nephew Brent Mikkelson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilford and Helen Mikkelson; son, John Heineck; brothers, Harold and Dennis Mikkelson; niece, Sandy Pierce; and nephew, Reed Mikkelson.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 5, 2021 at St. John’s Ev Lutheran Church, Sparta, with Reverend John Meyer officiating. Burial will be in Oxbow Cemetery, rural Melrose.
Family and friends are invited to call from 9 a.m. until time of services on Monday at the church.
