June I. Goodenough, 88, of Sparta, formerly of La Crosse, passed away, Monday, December 30, 2019, at Morrow Home in Sparta.
She was born June 6, 1931, in Cataract, Wis., the daughter of Ora and Bertha (Huntington) Abbott. June attended Daneville Elementary School until March of her seventh grade year; she then attended Cataract Grade School until 1945, and graduated from Sparta High School in 1949. She went on to study business at WWTC in La Crosse. On November 3, 1950, June married Walter Goodenough. She was employed at Standard Oil Company in La Crosse until moving to Milwaukee. She then worked for Trane Company and later for Gundersen Health System, both in La Crosse, retiring in 1987. June moved back to the Cataract area in 1990, where she lived until 2015, when she became ill and moved to her apartment at the Morrow Home in Sparta.
Survivors include her brother, Warren (Caren) Abbott of Nevada; two sisters, Anna Mae Pollack of Angelo and LaVonne Shawley of Sparta; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
June was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; six brothers, Ben, Byron, Bernard, Basil, Bill, and Spencer; and four sisters, Inez, Henrietta, Calvera, and Sharon.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, January 4, 2020, at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home, Sparta. Bob Mannel will officiate. Burial will be in Cataract Cemetery.
