Karen S. Devine

Karen S. Devine, 78, of Sparta, died Monday, May 6, 2024 at her home. She was born on May 3, 1946 to Ralph and Margaret (Bruemmer) Krall, in Antigo, WI. She grew up in Antigo and graduated from Antigo High School in 1964.

After high school, Karen attended Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Janesville. She married Douglas Devine on August 3, 1968 in Janesville. They lived in California for a short time, then moved to Sparta, where Karen committed to helping Doug realize his dream of being a dairy farmer.

Karen worked at Rolling Hills Nursing Home in Sparta and then St. Mary’s Hospital, where she retired after more than 40 years. She was an avid book reader and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. 

Karen is survived by her son, David (Carmen) Devine of Sparta; 5 grandsons, Colin, Casey, Jaiden, Jaequinn Devine, and Jesiah Loya; sisters, Eileen (David) Huppert of Glendale, WI and Jane Wojtasiak of Weston, WI; brother, Kenneth (Sharon) Krall of Rhinelander, WI; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Douglas; son, Jeremy; and siblings, Barbara, Ginny, and Carole.

A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, May 10, 2024 at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home and Cremation, Sparta, with Reverend Josh Buzbee officiating.
