Karin Hoying

Karin Hoying, 67, of Sparta, died Sunday, September 18, 2022, at Serenity House, in Tomah. She was born on May 29, 1955, to Mathias and Helga (Scheider) Ruenz, in Augsburg, Germany.

Karin moved to the Midwest as a child, but grew up in Hayward, California. She met Lawrence while traveling. He was stationed in Germany at the time. They married on December 23, 1976. They lived throughout the US, while he continued to serve. When he retired from the Army in 1995, they settled in Sparta. She enjoyed both traveling and shopping.

Karin is survived by her children, Kristine Hoying of Sparta, and Timothy Hoying of La Crosse; parents, Mathias and Helga Ruenz of Hayward, CA; brothers, Marvin (Debbie) Ruenz of Jacksonville, FL, and Eric (Jennifer) Ruenz of Fremont, CA.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, on Thursday, September 22, 2022, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, in Sparta, with Father Eric Berns officiating. Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Sparta.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM on Thursday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
