Kenneth L Gumz

Kenneth L.Gumz, 92, of La Crescent and formerly of Sparta, died on Monday, March 13, 2023 at his home. He was born on August 15, 1930 to Otto and Alice (Snyder) Gumz in Pulaski Township, Wisconsin, and grew up in the Boscobel and Richland Center area.

Kenneth married Marie Adkins on April 25, 1959 in Boscobel. In 1960, they relocated to Sparta. They were members of United Congregational Church in Sparta.  Kenneth worked as the County Supervisor for FHA of Monroe County, and was a proud member of the Sparta Lions. In 2020, he and Marie moved to La Crescent.

Kenneth is survived by his wife, Marie Gumz of La Crescent; children, Kim (Brett) Kemmer of La Crescent, and Scott (Kim) Gumz of Holmen; 2 grandchildren, Bode Kemmer of La Crescent, and Willow Gumz of Holmen; sisters, Marie Driskill of Bradenton, FL, Anna Mae Moodie of Sun Prairie, and Ruth Hanson of Milwaukee; brother, Gary Gumz of Ashville, NC; and many special nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Alice Gumz; brothers, Darrel and Donald; sister-in-law, Virginia; brothers-in-law, Kenneth Driskil, Donald Moodie, and Richard Hanson; and special friends, Pat and Larry Ward, and George and Donna Uting.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at United Congregational Church of Sparta, with Chaplain Priscilla Hemmersbach officiating. Burial will be in Felton Cemetery, Richland Center, at a later date.

A visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, at the church. Memorials may be offered to United Congregational Church, Sparta.
