LaVern A Erickson

LaVern A. Erickson, 76, of Sparta passed away on Monday, June, 16, 2025, at the Veterans Administration (VA) Medical Center in Tomah Wisconsin.  LaVern was born on June 3, 1949 to Charles and Rose (Vian) Erickson in Sparta Wisconsin.  He was married to Debra Jepson and then later to Dawn Jerome; and was the proud father to Jeff, Michelle, Scott, and Jim.

LaVern grew up in Sparta, graduating from Sparta High School in 1967.  After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force in April, 1969. He honorably served for 4 years as a Radio Relay Equipment Repairman.  After his military enlistment, he was a Commercial Truck Driver, Fireman, Sparta City Policeman and Co-Owner of Leon Country Tavern.

LaVern is survived by his sisters, Linda Erickson, and Barbara (Mark) Whiteside; his children, Jeff (Jennifer) Erickson, Michelle (Casey) Ellis, Scott (Mercedes) Erickson, and Jim (Megan) Anderson; 11 Grandchildren, Justin, Joshua, Joseph, Bailey, Jacob, Austin, Ryder, Kennedy, Franklin, Landon and Hayden; 3 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Rose.

A Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 20, 2025 at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home and Cremation, Sparta, with Pastor Josh Buzbee officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Sparta.

Friends and family are invited for a visitation from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Friday, at the funeral home.
