Larry D. Hopkins

Larry D. Hopkins, 82, of Sparta, died Thursday, April 27, 2023 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems, La Crosse. He was born on May 5, 1940 in Frederic, WI to Edgar “Ted” and Violet (Handlos) Hopkins.

Larry married Julee Borup on September 2, 1961 in Balsam Lake, WI. He worked as a Farm Manager for the Monroe County Farm for 21 years, until his retirement in 2005. Larry was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sparta.

Larry is survived by his wife, Julee Hopkins of Sparta; daughter, Coreen (Don) Pochardt; son, Adam (Andie) Hopkins of Madison; granddaughter, Mackenzie Pochardt of Winona, MN; grandson, Caleb Hopkins of Chicago, IL; sisters, Doris Gehrke of Minneapolis, MN and Darlene Ekstrand of Luck, WI; and brother, Lyle (Bev) Hopkins of Milltown, WI.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Violet Hopkins; mother and father-in-law, John and Grace Borup; son, Gary Hopkins; grandson, Christopher Hopkins; and brothers-in-law, Robert Gehrke and Roger Ekstrand.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 5, 2023 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Sparta, with Reverend James Scaife officiating. Burial will be at a later time in Milltown Cemetery, Milltown, WI.
