Loretta R. Fennigkoh

Loretta Rosetta Fennigkoh, 89, of Sparta passed away Sunday, August 20, 2023, at Mulder

Health Care Facility in West Salem. She was born February 4, 1934, in Mindoro, WI, to William and Hazel (Tooley) Rommel. She graduated from Bangor High School.

She married the love of her life Donald Fennigkoh Sr. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bangor on Oct. 23, 1954 and they were happily married for 56 years.

She worked at Northen Engraving in Sparta for 35 years until her retirement.

Loretta loved her family. Her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson were the light of her life. She always put others before herself. She had a passion for taking a lot of pictures, which needed to be just right. She knew everyone’s birthday by heart and their age. She loved to send cards to all, and not just on their birthdays, but every holiday too. She always included $2 in every card.

The holidays, especially Christmas with her family around her, was everything to her. She loved gardening, canning and baking and she shared that passion with her children and grandchildren. She loved shopping with her sister, Barbara, and looked forward to their weekly trips to the Dollar Tree, Walmart and Hansen’s after lunch at the Sparta Family Restaurant.

She always had a smile on her face and loved to share her age with everyone. She was very proud to be 89 years old!

She is survived by grandchildren, Donald Fennigkoh III, Jennifer (Jon) Fennigkoh, Jessica (Adam)

Bennett and Jeremy (Megan) Ackerson; great-grandchildren: Zachary (Kaitlynn) Gammons,

Christopher Gammons, Hunter Christensen, Serenity and Summer Fennigkoh, Wyatt, Tobias, Cyrus, Elias, Amos, Lenorah and Baby Bennett, and Clara, Ames, Everly and Alma Ackerson; great-great grandson, Theodore Gammons; sister, Barbara Wyse; special niece Angie Torgerud; and many other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Sr.; daughter, Debra Ackerson; son, Donald Jr.; parents; two sisters, Anita Evenson and Marion Stetzer; and three brothers, Donald, William, and Duane Rommel.

Funeral services will be held at 11am on Friday, August 25, 2023 at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 419 Jefferson Ave, Sparta, with Reverend Jon Hackbarth officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery.

A Visitation will be held from 9 am to 11 am, on Friday, at the church.
