Lorraine R. Hunter, 86, of Bangor, died on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Moments Hospice in Bangor, WI. She was born on June 30, 1935 to John and Lydia (Becker) Mades in Sparta, WI.
Lorraine was a high school graduate in 1953 from Central High School in La Crosse, WI. She would also obtain an Associate’s Degree in Culinary Arts from WWTC in La Crosse.
Lorraine married Buford Hunter on August 27, 1960 in Melrose, WI at her sister Viola (Rudy) Garbers’ house. They would go on to have six children together.
Lorraine greatly enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. She was also a member of the La Crosse Deaf Club.
Lorraine is survived by her children James (Elizabeth) Hunter of Ironton, MO, Marlene (Mike) Boehm of Stoddard, WI, Joseph Hunter of La Crosse, WI, Margaret Stone of Rockland, WI and Diane Meyer of South Carolina; grandchildren Catherine (Josh) Mitchell, Dale House, Kristina (Jon) Bekkum, Brandi Boehm, Craig Stone, Nadia Stone, Dominic Stone, Ronald Jamison Jr, Amanda Clingenpeel, Sara (Travis) Buck; great-grandchildren Mackenzie Mitchell, Candace Mitchell, Bridget Mitchell, Bentley Bekkum, Maverick Bekkum, Elena Buck, Meadow Buck and Lillith Buck.
Lorraine is further survived by her sister Vernetta Fish and brother Harold (Jackie) Mades; sisters-in-law Beverly Mades and Audrey Mades. She is also survived many nieces and nephews.
Lorraine is preceded in death by her husband Buford; her son David John; her parents John and Lydia; her sister Viola (Rudy) Garbers; brothers Maynard, Marlin (Arlene), Dean and Waldemar and brother-in-law Ara Fish.
Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, January 9, 2022 at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home and Cremation, Sparta. Chaplain Jim Opgenorth to officiate. Memorial visitation will be held prior, from 1:00 PM until the time of service. Private family interment Valley Cemetery. Masks will be required.
