Lorraine I. Miller, 93, of Sparta, formerly of Onalaska, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, December 31, 2019, at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse.
She was born February 22, 1926, in La Crosse, to William and Lillian Herber. Lorraine was a proud graduate of Onalaska High School. She married Chuck Miller and together they had six children; after 25 years of marriage, they divorced. Lorraine worked as a cook in the La Crosse area for many years. After moving to Sparta, she began working as a greeter at McDonalds for six years. Lorraine was known as the “butterfly lady.” She was a very active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Sparta where she was blessed a very special church family. Lorraine enjoyed many types of games; especially, Cribbage, Bingo, and Yahtzee.
Survivors include six children, Gene Miller, Bill (Linda) Miller, Angelee Olson, Rick Miller, Mike Miller, and Penny (Ken) Taylor; 13 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Lillian Davenport; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Pete Olson; and “Bree Baby.”
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, January 4, 2020, at Calvary Baptist Church, 601 W. Montgomery St., Sparta. Rev. Jeremiah Cochran will officiate. There will be no visitation prior to the memorial service at the church. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials. A celebration of life will be held in April and details will be announced by the family.
