Louise E. Ageton, 96, of Sparta, WI passed away peacefully at home on February 5, 2025, with her daughter and grandson at her side. She was born on November 2, 1928, in Lincoln, NE.
On August 6, 1950, Louise married Donald J. Ageton, Sr., in Fremont, NE where they owned and operated a small café. They shared over 12 years together before he was stricken with cancer and deceased in June, 1963. She devoted her life to her children as well as being a Cub Scout Den Mother and Girl Scout Brownie Leader. After her children were grown, she returned to school and earned her degree in Applied Sciences from Western Wisconsin Technical College. After graduation, she worked at Fort McCoy and also did volunteer work at St. Mary’s Hospital in Sparta.
Louise is survived by her children: Deborah, William, Cody and John; 24 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her older sister, Della, many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her oldest son, Donald Jr., 3 brothers and 1 sister.
She renewed her driver’s license last year in October, 2024, just before her 96th birthday because she never liked the thought of being stuck at home. We can never forget her love, warmth, hugs, generosity, and her strong will to live. Working daily crossword puzzles kept her “sharp as a tack” until her last breath.
The family wishes to thank her care team from Gundersen Clinic/Hospital and St. Croix Hospice. They provided her with special care and comfort as she transitioned to eternal life. Also, a big “thank you” to the employees at the Sparta Burger King for the friendly smiles and endless “senior” coffees during the past few years.
Family and friends are invited to come and celebrate her life from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, February 17, 2025, at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home and Cremation in Sparta. Online condolences may be offered at www.schanhoferfh.com
