Luella Mae Greeno

Luella M. Greeno, 91, of Sparta, passed away peacefully at her home on January 5,2023. She was born June 11, 1931 to Wilmar and Ella (Jerome) Huber in Cataract.

She married La Vern Greeno on June 4, 1948, in Cataract, WI. Luella worked as a nurse’s aide at Rolling Hills for over 20 years. After retirement, she enjoyed helping in the 4-H food stand, bookworm reading to the Head Start children, and

volunteering at Mary Morrows Attic. She also served as an election poll worker for the Township of La Fayette, and volunteered at the Sparta Bloodmobile for many years.

Luella’s favorite pastime was spending time with the grandkids and great grandbabies. Family meant everything to Luella. She enjoyed crocheting, needle work, gardening and tending to her flowers, and cooking for an entire crew. No one ever left the table hungry. Her favorite times were making lefse and baking cookies with the grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, Lonie (Mary) Greeno of Sparta; daughter LuAnn Buehler, of La Crescent, MN, Gary Buehler, of Nodine, MN; grandchildren, Billie (Willie) Erdmann, Peggy Buehler, Tammy (Jason) Stremcha, Renee (Jeremy Lange) Buehler all of Minnesota, Jeffrey Greeno, Jennifer (John) Vitellaro and Jill (Ryan) Leeser all of Wisconsin; and 13 great grandchildren; surviving sisters, Alverna Greeno, Elizabeth Bauer, Alberta Lebakken, Letha (David) Wedeward; brothers, Albert Huber, Duane (Linda) Huber, LeRoy (Avis) Huber; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, La Vern; parents, Wilmer and Ella Huber; brothers, Ferdinand Huber, Wilmer (Winefred) Huber, Raymond Huber, Gerhart (Norma) Huber, Gerald Huber, Victor Huber and Chester Huber; sister Selma (John) Johnson; brothers-in-law, Ralph Lebakken, and Lewis Greeno; and sister-in-law, Barb Huber.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, January 14, 2023, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Sparta, with Pastor Jim Scaife officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, at the church.
