Mary Toshiko McCredden died at the young age of 93. She was born in Mashike, Japan to Toyogi and Kotogi Kaneuchi. She married Wilson McCredden on August 2nd, 1955. In her married earlier years, she traveled with her military husband until his retirement in 1966 when they settled in Sparta, WI.
For many years Mary (Little Mary) worked at local Sparta restaurants to include the Country Kitchen, The Club Oasis, The Sparta Steakhouse and her Mama San’s restaurants. One of things she enjoyed most was traveling with her family. She was also very involved in Asian dancing and performed in the Twin Cities and Eau Claire for many years.
Mary is survived by her children, Junko Ono of Japan, Joyce Peterson, Gloria Carey, Mona (Keith) Kenyon, all of Sparta, Joan (Morgan) VanEvera of Ocean Springs, MS, William (Melissa) McCredden of Meridian, ID, and Carol Johnson of Denver, CO. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren in addition to many friends and family members.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 ½ years, Wilson McCredden and her siblings.
She was loved and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Funeral Service to be held on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home and Cremation of Sparta. Funeral Visitation to be held prior to the service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Rev. Randy Williamson to officiate. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery.
