Maryrose Shonka

     Maryrose Shonka, 77, of Holmen, passed away Friday, May 18, 2018 at Bluffview Memory Care Center, Holmen. She was born to Francis and Louise (Cuchna) Shonka on June 14, 1940 in Riverside, IL.

     Maryrose received a Bachelor’s Degree at the College of St. Francis in Joliet, IL. She married and lived in Canada until 1979 when she and her sons moved to Evanston, IL. Maryrose moved to La Crosse, WI in 2007 to be near her son and grandchildren. She was an avid gardener, loved music and art.

     Maryrose is survived by her son, Dr. Alan (Therese) Conway, of Tomah; grandchildren, James, Mary, and Rita Conway; brothers, Francis, Joseph, Paul, and Thomas Shonka; and a sister, Mary Louise Bartlett.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Louise and a son, Ian in 1999.

     A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at St. Adalbert Catholic Cemetery, Niles, IL. 

     The Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home, Sparta, is assisting the family with arrangements.
