Mavis Storandt Obituary

Mavis V. Storandt, 92, of Cataract, passed away Sunday, August 2, 2020.

She was born July 27, 1928, at home in the Town of Franklin, Jackson County, Wis., to Arnold and Cepha (Simons) Arneson. On September 21, 1946, Mavis married Robert R. Storandt at the Parsonage of the Melrose United Methodist Church. She enjoyed flowers and gardening, hosting garage sales, going antiquing, playing bingo, watching the Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers, and being a happy and kind Norwegian. One of Mavis’ favorite pastimes was trout fishing; opening day of each trout season, she was on the Cataract Mill Pond first thing in the morning. She was a member of the Cataract United Methodist Church where she helped serve church suppers for many years, participating in the Cataract Sportsman’s Club Field Days and Melrose American Legion Corn Broil, and working election polls. Mavis and her husband, Robert, were proud lifetime members of the American Ex-Prisoners of War Organization. She was a wonderful cook and made delicious Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners for her family every year. She was the heart of her family; a loving mother, mother-in-law, grandma, and great-grandma who will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her two children, Judith (Ronald) Nichols of Middleton, Wis., and Ron (Denise) Storandt of Cataract; three grandchildren, Mark (Julie) Storandt of East Troy, Wis., Renee Storandt (Sue Caldwell) of Fredrick, Md., and Emily (Josh) Kortens of Manitowoc, Wis.; three great-grandsons, Kyle Storandt (fiancée, Lauren) and Christopher Storandt (Samantha) and Hudson Kortens; one sister, Eloda Schwartz; one sister-in-law, Audrey Arneson; three brothers-in-law, Ralph (Judy) Osborne, Larry Thayer, and Leo Gates; many loving nieces and nephews; Sue’s children, Abby and Megan Caldwell; other relatives, and friends.

Mavis was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter, Gwendolyn Storandt; two brothers, Arnold Arneson, Jr., and Theron Arneson; seven sisters, Clarice (Wayne) Watkins, Cory Gates, Evelyn (Howard) Lambert, JoAnn (Don) Mallory, Donna Thayer, and Patricia Osborne; and several nieces and nephews.

     Private services will be held.
