Michael R. Brumbly

Michael R. Brumbly, age 70, of Leon, passed away on December 6,2024 at Mulders Nursing Home in West Salem, surrounded by his loving family. Mike was born on July 13, 1954, in Morrison, Ill to Richard and Doris (Curry) Brumbly. He attended East Coloma Elementary, Rock Falls High School and graduated from Sauk Valley College.

Mike liked to draw, paint, and do woodworking projects. Mike’s passion was fishing and going on family trips. Mike enjoyed playing guitar and banjo. He became a carpenter and owned his own business. He built his first house. He married Diane Cogin, and they had a child Jessica, they were later divorced.

Mike moved to Wisconsin in 2001 and met Cheryl and continued in the construction field, doing odd jobs. They were married on June 8 , 2002. Mike and Cheryl loved to go fishing, kayaking, traveling out West, and going to bars to have a beer with family and friends.

Mike is survived by the love of his life Cheryl (Hagen); daughter, Jessica Rioux; brothers, Tim (Leslie), Marc (Pam), Tris (Angela), and Matt (Charlie)(Yuka) Brumbly; stepdaughter, Elizabeth (Brad) Lueck; stepson, Erik Hagen; grandchildren, Caitlynn, Carson, and Cameron Lueck, Evelyn Hollman, Mason, and Alayna Hagen; mother-In law, Shirley Hagen; brother-in-law, Steven (Sue) Hagen and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Doris Brumbly and father-in-law Curtis Hagen.

The family would like to thank Mulders Nursing Home, and St Croix Hospice staff for the care of Michael during his stay.

A Memorial service will be held at 4:00 P.M., Friday, December 13, 2024 at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home and Cremation in Sparta. A luncheon will follow the services at Leon Community Center.

A visitation will be held from 2:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M., Friday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be offered at www.schanhoferfh.com.
