Michelle A. Clark

Michelle A. Clark, 57, of Sparta passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2024 at her home. She was born on May 19, 1966 to David and Antoinette (Bozich) Pitts, in San Diego, CA. She grew up in San Diego, and graduated from the University of CA Riverside.

Michelle met Robert Clark, while he was in the Navy. They were married on May 7, 1988 in San Diego. In 1991, Bob was discharged from the military, and they relocated to Wisconsin. They lived in Wilton, Norwalk, Cashton, then Sparta.

Michelle loved teaching kids how to read at Cashton Elementary, then in Tomah at Lemonweir and LaGrange Elementary. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed gardening and bird watching. Michelle also enjoyed traveling and spending time at the ocean and Redwood trees. 

Michelle is survived by her husband, Bob; children, Katie (Jacob) Rakow of La Crosse, and Kristen Clark of Sparta; parents, David and Antoinette Pitts of San Diego, CA; siblings, David Pitts Jr. of San Diego, Mark Pitts of Sacramento, and Melanie Leander of San Diego; nieces and nephew; Alyssa, Gavin, and Lauren; as well as many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents.

Michelle received two Stem Cell Transplants as part of her cancer treatment. The family wanted to share the information to join the donor registry: bethematch.org

A Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 9, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Sparta, with Reverend Josh Buzbee officiating. Burial will be at a later date, in Millards Prairie Cemetery, Hillsboro.

Family and friends are invited to a Visitation from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home and Cremation, Sparta; and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday, at the church.
