Norma Mae Arttus

     Norma "Mae" Arttus, 68, of Sparta, died Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Gundersen Health System, La Crosse. She was born on July 12, 1952 in Sparta to Norman and Mary (Wehrs) Anderson. She grew up in the Sparta area. 

     Mae married Roland “Rollie” Arttus on October 2, 1971 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sparta, and stayed in the Sparta area throughout their marriage.  

     Mae had worked in Sparta in her earlier years, and upon retirement, she was grateful to focus more on her family, her home, gardening, canning and her many other creative hobbies. Anyone that had the pleasure of knowing Mae, knew how vibrant her personality was, and also knew that they would likely hear some kind of great story. She was a very strong, humorous, and genuinely wonderful human being. She will be very deeply missed! 

     Mae is survived by her husband, Rollie of Sparta; their beloved cockatiel, Pete, children; Jason Arttus and Michelle Arttus both of Sparta; granddaughter, Jessica Kasten (Travis Olson) of La Crosse; great granddaughter, Gracie Olson; granddog, Molly; sister, Beverly (John) Ruddock of Rhode Island and many more family and friends.

     She was preceded in death by her mom and dad.

     A memorial service will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home and Cremation, Sparta, with Reverend Mark Kvale officiating.

     Family and friends are invited to call from 10 a.m. until time of services on Wednesday at the funeral home. The family requests masks be worn and social distancing observed. 

     The Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home and Cremation, Sparta, is assisting the family with arrangements.
