Randy L. Verken

     Randy L. Verken, 71, of Sparta, died Friday evening December 25, 2020, at Rolling Hills Rehabilitation Center, Sparta. He was born on September 4, 1949 to Erwin and Nancy (Hendersin) Verken in Sparta.

     Randy grew up in Sparta. He married Joan Zebell. They later divorced. He was a farmer, handyman, and also worked at Northern Engraving for many years. He served in the US Army. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, puzzles, and watching MASH and western movies.

     Randy is survived by his children, Pamela (Jon) Vonderehe from Tomah, Scott (Katie) Verken of Cashton, and Travis (Amy) Verken of Hillsboro, WI; grandchildren, Drew (Kayla), Kyle (KatieAnn), Braden, Keaton, Danika (Travis), Shane, Riley, Daimon, Huck, Brant, Trenton, Thayron, Aiden, and Emma; great grandchildren, Brayden and Kinley with two more on the way; brothers, Bradley (Julie) Verken of Black River Falls, WI and Wendell Verken of Sparta; nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.

     He was preceded in death by his parents and great grandson, Gabriel.

     A celebration of Randy’s life will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home, Sparta. Burial will be at a later time in Leon Cemetery.

     Family and friends are invited to come from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. with the opportunity to share your favorite memories with everyone after 6pm. Masks and social distancing will be observed. 

     The Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home, Sparta, is assisting the family with arrangements.
