Raymond Henry Weibel was born November 21, 1952, in Sparta, to Donovan and Alice (Mohring) Weibel. He was raised in Sparta and graduated from Sparta High School in 1970. He married Becky Sacia on August 28, 2009.
Ray enjoyed the outdoors. He loved fishing, hunting, and trap shooting. He spent over 15 years teaching hunter safety to many area youths. He was a member of the Sparta Butterfest Committee and the Sparta Rod and Gun, serving on both of their boards. He worked for Western Federal Savings and Loan, Bottled Beverage, JP Herring, and was the former owner of the Amish Cheese House.
Ray died Sunday, December 11, 2022, at Gundersen Health Medical Center, in La Crosse, at the age of 70. He is survived by his wife, Becky; children, Cory (Lindsay) Weibel, Amy (Chris) Welker; grandchildren, Hannah and Elliott Weibel; step-grandchildren, Emily, Alissa, and Drake Welker; sister, Virginia Nelson; nephews, Jim (Amy) and J.C. Nelson, and many relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother-in-law Dave Nelson.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M., Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home and Cremation, Sparta.
A private graveside service will be held. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
