Reginald (Reggie) DeWitt Boldon of Rockland, Wisconsin, age 91, died peacefully on January 3, 2026, at Brookdale Senior Living Community in La Crosse. Reggie was born November 2, 1934, to Dean E. Boldon and Amalia (Molly) Schneider Boldon, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Sparta, WI.
Reggie married Mary Anne Hanson at Sparta, WI on November 7, 1953. At the time of Mary’s death on January 31, 2023, they had been married 70 years. They had four children: Reginald Kim, Terry Lea, Bruce Alan, and Bradford Charles.
Reggie attended the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Due to his father’s illness, he purchased the family service business in Sparta and helped construct the Boldon’s Motel. He worked for Thorp Finance and then accepted the CEO position at Sparta’s Savings and Loan Association which he held for 22 years. During his tenure, he established new branch offices at Mauston, Wisconsin Dells, Tomah, Reedsburg, and Eau Claire. The association name was changed to Western Federal. He was CEO, president, and director until retiring in 1985.
From his first retirement thru 2005 Reggie and his wife, Mary, operated numerous facilities, ending with management of the New Ulm Motel. They also were partners in the development of five residential subdivisions for the City of Sparta, including Westmoreland, Prairie School, Crestview Heights, Valleyview Estates and Riverwood.
Reggie was always involved in community activities including Jaycees, Kiwanis, and the Chamber of Commerce. He was also a master in Sparta’s Valley 60 Masonic Lodge and a member of the United Methodist church, serving six years as education chair and two years on the official board. Reggie served ten years on the board of directors of St. Mary’s Hospital in Sparta, most as president or board chairman. He was chairman of construction of St. Mary’s owned Heritage Haven Apartments in Sparta, for retired, low-income, and disabled persons.
Reggie was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Anne; his son, Bradford Boldon; parents Dean and Amalia Boldon; brother Gerald and sister-in-law Helen Boldon; father-in-law LaVern Hanson and mother-in-law Lola Hanson; brother-in-law Virgil Hanson and sister-in-law Esther Hanson; brother-in-law Kenneth Nichols; and great stepson Logan Loeffler (Jason and Kimberly).
He is survived by his children: Reginald Kim Boldon (Carol Meyer-Boldon), Terry Lea Loeffler (Darrell), and Bruce Alan Boldon (Cheryl); daughter-in-law Kathy Boldon (Brad); grandchildren: Kathryn Boldon, Melissa Foster (Craig), Paul Marshall (Jennifer), Lauren Boldon (Steve Anthony), Cory Boldon, and Rocio Boldon, and step grandchildren Jason Loeffler (Kimberly), and David Loeffler (Christine); 6 great-grandchildren: Darrian, Dustin, Molly, Jeremy, Brandon and Sophia; 4 step great-grandchildren: Lillian, Riley, Peyton, and Mitchell; 2 great-great grandchildren: Brooke and Emma; sister Bonnie Coomes; sister-in-law Gladys Nichols (Kenneth) brother-in-law Arthur Hanson (Myra), and Steven Hanson (Janice); and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home and Cremation, Sparta, with Pastor Brian Young officiating. A private family burial will take place at the Boldon family site, at Woodlawn Cemetery, Sparta. A luncheon will follow the burial.
