Richard “Dick” Trachte, 76, of Merrillan and formerly of Tomah, WI, passed away on April 28, 2021 peacefully in his sleep.
Rich was born in Marshfield, WI on October 12, 1944. He married Carol (Williams) on September 20, 1968. Together, they built a wonderful family. Rich was a selfless man who remained ready and followed God’s word and loved his family dearly. You could always find his Bible next to his chair. He worked at Exopack in Tomah, for 30+ years and loved the job he had and his many coworkers there.
Rich served in the National Guard Reserves for 6 years. Rich loved his family, gardening and fishing. If you couldn’t find him in the garden, you could find him with a pole in his hand headed to the lake. He was an avid reader of westerns novels and he loved his western movies, while snuggled up in his chair with his favorite dogs, Toby and Charlie. Rich will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Rich is survived by his wife, Carol Trachte; daughters, Lori Ruedy and Jill Stubrud; grandchildren, Maggie (Garrett) Jessie, Lane Ruedy, Madison and Miryah Stubrud; great grandson, Keagen Jessie; brother; Allen (Julie) Trachte; sister, Sarah Bray; and many in-laws, nephews, and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Mrytle Trachte; son, Jason Trachte; great grandson, Kaiden Jessie; sister, Diane Schier; infant sister, Nancy Trachte; and a brother-in-law and sister in-laws.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to family and can be mailed care of: Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home and Cremation, 106 W. Franklin Street, Sparta, WI 54656. Online condolences may be offered at www.schanhoferfh.com
