Obituary

Robert “Rob” Dean Culpitt, 55, of Sparta, lost his fight with PTSD on Sunday, May 1, 2022 at his home. He was born on August 11, 1966 to Kathy (Thurston) and Ron Sanders in Sparta. He spent his childhood adventuring outdoors with his buddies, riding dirt bikes and being adventurous.

He grew up in Sparta, and graduated from Sparta High School in 1985. He then went on to serve in the US Army for 26 years, serving multiple tours in the middle east. At home, he worked at USPFO at Volk Field while on active duty and MATES at Fort McCoy on the civilian side. After retirement, he worked for Brenengen and Sleepy Hollow as an expert detailer.

He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast, and loved the outdoors.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, kayaking, cool trucks, drinking beer, and talking smart. He was also a vocal advocate for combat veterans and especially those who suffered from PTSD. Rob married Sadie Schultz on June 9, 2016 in Colorado. Rob adored his mother, his wife, and his children, and he was always there to lend a hand to anyone in need.

Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Sadie, of Sparta; children from his first marriage, Nathan (Jessica) Culpitt and granddaughter, Vivian, of Cataract, and Kobe Culpitt and granddaughter, Sophia, of Sparta; children from his second marriage to Tilli (Johnson-Wing) Culpitt, Nolan and Shelby Culpitt of Onalaska; and daughter, Raya Schultz of Sparta, as well as his loyal canine companion, Six.

He is further survived by his mother, Kathy of Sparta; brothers Randy (Rhonda) Culpitt, and Russ (Melissa) Culpitt; in-laws Kurt (Pam Severson) Schultz and Kathy (Bruce Mattson) Maurer, sisters-in-law Erin (Jeff Denton) Schultz and Hallie (Aaron) Weibel, nieces and nephews Meaghan McCann, Matthew, Tanner, Aeriana, Morgan, and Mara Culpitt, Kiefer Mahan, Gavin Weibel, Elena and Joselyn, as well as many aunts, uncles, relatives and lifelong friends - especially his beloved motorcycle club.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ron; and infant brother, Kenneth, as well as his grandparents.
