Russell E. Seaquist, 75, of Sparta, passed away Thursday, November 22, 2018 at the Tomah VA Medical Center, Tomah. He was born February 16, 1943 to the late Russell L. and Florence (Bilderback) Seaquist in Minneapolis, MN.
At an early age Russell moved to Wisconsin and graduated from Melrose High School. He was drafted into the US Army and served his country in Vietnam until his honorable discharge in March of 1973. Russell was awarded the Purple Heart Medal of Honor and several Air Medals during his service. He was an active member of the American Legion Post 100 and VFW Post 2112. Russell worked as a heavy equipment operator for Ft. Mc Coy until his retirement in 2003.
Russell is survived by his sister, Sandra (Frank) Amore, of Plymouth, MN; several nieces and nephews; and a step-grand-daughter of Sparta.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Lorraine Seaquist; his parents, Russell L. and Florence; and a brother, Ronald Seaquist.
Visitation for Russell will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, November 29, at the Ft. Snelling Memorial Chapel, Minneapolis, MN. Interment with full military honors will follow at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.schanhoferfh.com.
