Shelby “Jean” Stein, 84, of Black River Falls, passed away after a short battle with cancer on Tuesday, August 18, 2020, at her home surrounded by family.
She was born May 3, 1936, to Lester and Ione (Wagner) Staffon and grew up in Alma Center. Jean married Charles Stein on August 12, 1972, at Squaw Creek Lutheran Church and enjoyed 48 years of marriage living in Black River Falls. She worked at Norplex in Black River Falls, Black River Memorial Hospital, and Black River Falls Middle School, retiring in 1999.
Jean enjoyed going visiting old friends and coworkers and going to her grandchildren’s sporting events. She had a love for life, her family, and friends.
Survivors include her husband, Charles; son, Rod Larson; daughter, Jennifer (Cory) Hanson; grandchildren, Alex Larson, Emily Roman, Aaron Becker, and Nathan Becker; brothers, Rodger (Joan) Staffon and Bernard (Betty Ann) Staffon; brothers-in-law, Roger (Sandy) Stein and Fred (Marietta) Stein; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Carl and Adeline Stein.
A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m., until 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 22, 2020, at Squaw Creek Lutheran Church, Black River Falls. Graveside services and burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Squaw Creek Cemetery, Black River Falls Fire Department, Black River Memorial Hospice, or the Jackson County Animal Shelter.
