Sheldon S. Lamson

Sheldon S. Lamson, 80, of Sparta, died Thursday, September 5, 2024 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems, in La Crosse. He was born on December 4, 1943 to Oliver and Ruby (Samford) Lamson, in Palisade, Minnesota. He grew up in Palisade, and graduated from Aitkin High School.

After high school, Sheldon served in the US Navy. He moved to Portage, IN and worked for Midwest Steel, as an electrician.  

Sheldon was married to Carlene Thorne for 34 years, until her passing in 1999. He then married Dee Burleton on July 8, 2000. They moved to Sparta in 2001.

Sheldon was a member of the Lions Club. He enjoyed woodworking, bowling, golfing, and gardening.

Sheldon is survived by his wife, Dee; children, Brett Lamson, Sheila (Roger) Kingsley, and Julie (Bruce) Thomson; step-children, Timothy (Tammy) O’Malley, Brian (Dee) O’Malley, Missy (Gerald) Lee, and Brent (Kate) O’Malley; 20 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Becky (Les) Lamson, Lydia (Curt) Berg, and Lori (Frank) Matz; and brother, Bill (Gloria) Lamson.

He is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Carlene; and brothers, Henry and Bob Lamson.
