Sheri Lee Latimer, 66, of Sparta, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, May 13, 2025. Born on November 17, 1958, in Albert Lea, Minnesota, she was the beloved daughter of Delores (Castillo) and Duane Smith.
Sheri married Michael Latimer in May of 1985, beginning a lifelong partnership filled with love, laughter, and shared adventures. In May of 1992, they welcomed their daughter Jennifer into the world—a moment that marked the beginning of Sheri’s most cherished role: motherhood.
From the time her daughter was born, Sheri dedicated herself fully to being a homemaker. She poured her heart into baking delicious treats, preparing warm meals, and creating a nurturing environment where love and joy flourished. Her home was a haven—filled with comfort, care, and the unmistakable touch of someone who truly loved her family above all else.
Sheri found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved putting together puzzles and watching ghost hunting shows. Though she left most of the flower gardening to Michael, she delighted in seeing their yard bloom under his care. Together they attended many events and especially enjoyed their trips to Wisconsin Dells—where sightseeing and spirited games of miniature golf brought them closer together.
Her favorite moments were those spent with her daughter Jennifer and grandchildren Valtheran, Draconis, Phoenix, and Ilithia. Their visits were filled with energy and affection as they climbed over her vying for attention—moments that may have been tiring but brought Sheri immeasurable happiness.
Sheri is lovingly remembered by her mother Delores Wolfe; her step-mother Ruth Smith; her devoted husband of 40 years, Michael Latimer; her daughter Jennifer (Richard) Poff; and her four grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Sharon Gent; in-laws Mary Pat Weigel and Diane Lokken; Dennis (Tori) Latimer; nieces and nephews Adam (Jasmine) Fisher, Nathan Fisher, Aaron Fisher, Ellen (John) Wofford, Kevin (Paula) Weigel, Annika (Scott) Ewing, Amy (Shane) Mueller, and Alyson (Ray) Green.
She was preceded in death by her father Duane Smith; in-laws Mike Weigel, Ronald Lokken and Jane Maddocks; nephew Scott Maddocks; and her beloved fur babies Thomas and Yvette.
Those who knew Sheri will remember her as loving and helpful—sometimes stubborn but always kind. She had a generous spirit that placed others before herself. Her warmth touched many lives and created lasting memories for all who had the privilege to know her.
May Sheri’s memory bring comfort to those who loved her deeply. She will be missed beyond measure. May her memory bring peace to those who mourn her passing and joy to those who recall the love she so freely gave.
