Stephen "Pete" P. Mc Credden

Stephen Peter McCredden, age 86, of Sparta, WI, passed away at the Morrow Home, in Sparta, on Thursday, May 25, 2023. He was born November 1, 1936, in Cataract, WI, to William and Marie (Abbott) McCredden.

He grew up in the Milwaukee area, and after high school, enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he had the opportunity to travel around the world. After the Navy, Pete drove furniture trucks all over the United States. He liked to share stories of all the beautiful country he got to see, and his desire to be back in some of those areas. He took a break in between truck driving to live in the Twin Cities and work for the U.S. Postal Service. The open road called him back, and he finished his career as a truck driver.

After his retirement, he settled down in Sparta to be near his family. Pete loved driving through the county and visiting his birth place, seeing round barns, light houses, Jersey calves, and listening to Country Western music.

Pete is survived by four siblings; Judy (Ralph) Baxter, Ruthie (Kerry) Buettke, Priscilla (Charlie) Sciosci and Dennis (Nadine) McCredden; sister-in-law, Rose McCredden; special niece, Mona Kenyon as well as several other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Wilson, Daniel, Michael, and Phillip McCredden; three sisters, Rosella Ross, Lois and Mary McCredden in infancy; nephew, Patrick McCredden; and sister-in-law, Mary T. McCredden.
