Steven H. Bohnert

Steven H. Bohnert, 72, of Sparta passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, December 31, 2025. He was born on June 26, 1953 to Harold (Red) and Arlys Bohnert in Sparta, WI; where he grew up and attended Sparta High School.

In 1974 Steve met the love of his life and soul mate, Shirley Dickman, while out snowmobiling with his parents. They were inseparable from that point forward and were married September 14, 1974 in Sparta, WI. They quickly started their family with two children, Colleen and Jason.

Steve was a craftsman by nature, and enjoyed the outdoors. He was self-employed for many years; owning a construction and concrete business, and later a lawn care service.; after “retirement”, as he always had a need to stay busy. He was a hard-working man who took a lot of pride in his work. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and traveling. He and his wife spent the last 8 years enjoying their time together traveling and exploring the country with their camper. They met many new people and made many amazing friends along the way. They saw a lot of new things, and had many great adventures during their time on the road.

Steve is survived by his wife, Shirley; two children, Colleen (Rich) Geier, and Jason (Malinda) Bohnert; three grandchildren, Codi (LeeAnna), Samantha, and Bradly; one great-grandson, Dax; five siblings, Barb Roe, Pat (Ruthe) Bohnert, Julie Bohnert, Jeff (Joanne) Bohnert, and Cathy (Paul) Fritsch; and many nieces and nephews.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Harold (Red) and Arlys Bohnert; and brother-in-law, Dwight Roe.
