December 17, 2020 12:48 PMI was Steve’s dialysis nurse for 2 years and he was my favorite patient. He called me “little heifer” and I can’t believe I’ll never hear him say that again. Every encounter with Steve was a great adventure and I never knew what would come out of his mouth. He was very kind and took excellent care of his pets. I so enjoyed when I could spend time with Steve and Darla together cause she kept him in line. I have never met such a unique individual and probably won’t again. I will miss him every day. RIP

December 15, 2020 7:43 PMAs a cousin of Steve’s family I remember staying at their house with Mary Joe one summer. He was just back from the Air Force and we were having dinner when a song came on the radio. It was Harper Valley PTA and he was singing all of the words and belting them out with the music. I remember Louise telling him not to sing that nasty song and of course we all had a good laugh thinking there was nothing wrong with that song. I didn’t know Steve very well but that particular moment in time stuck with me forever.
You never know how a person will touch someone’s life.
Your cousin Kathy Ballwahn
