Susan M. Krauss

     Susan Marie (Maurer) Krauss, 62, of Sparta, died Thursday, February 20, 2020 at Mayo Health System, La Crosse. She was born on May 1, 1957 in Sparta to Donald and Beverly (Pierce) Maurer.

    Sue grew up in Sparta, graduating from Sparta High; she spent the majority of her life living in the Sparta area.

    Throughout her life Sue enjoyed being outdoors. Whether camping, hiking or gardening, she was constantly outdoors. Her greatest joys in her final years were seeing her grandchildren Jailynn and Drake grow up and learn new things, experiencing life.

     Sue is survived by her children, William (Kathleen) Krauss of Lake Mills, Timothy Krauss of Sparta, Daniel Krauss of Sparta, and Crystal Smith of Clinton; grandchildren, Ronald (Katie) Krauss of Oconomowoc, Drake Krauss of Lake Mills, Jailynn Krauss of Sparta, and Dominic Smith of Clinton; siblings, Kathleen Maurer, Diane Pottinger, Robert Maurer, Linda (James) Hubert, and Betsy Maurer; nieces and nephews, Jennifer (Douglas) Cline of Midwest City OK, Julie Maurer of Van Buren, AR, Douglas (Nicole) Maurer of Midwest City, Whitney (Randal) Mauk of Del City, OK, Erin Schultz of New Lisbon, Hallie (Aaron) Wiebel of Sparta, Sadie (Rob Culpitt) Schultz of Sparta, Katherine (Jeremiah) White of Sparta, Autumn Bender of Norwalk, Ryan Pottinger of San Diego, CA, Nicole (Jeff) Genske of Norwalk, Kristin (Troy) Turner of Sparta, Alex (Elizabeth) Schlintz of Bangor, John Krauss of Portland, OR, Tina Krauss of Pullman, WA, Rosie Krauss of Pullman, and Monica Althaus of Pullman; and many great nieces and great nephews.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Beverly; grandparents, Rudolph and Katherine Maurer and Glen and Eva Pierce; brother, Michael Maurer; and nephew, Cody Schultz.

     A Celebration of Susan’s Life will be held from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home, Sparta.
